A soothing, aromatic Indian classic — warm milk infused with saffron, cardamom, and a hint of sweetness.

Comforting, fragrant, and golden in color, this drink is perfect for calm evenings or bedtime relaxation.

  • Total Time: 3 minutes
  • Yield: 1 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Milk (or almond milk)
  • A few Saffron Strands (bloomed)
  • Pinch of Cardamom
  • Sugar or Honey to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm 2 tablespoons of milk and soak the saffron strands in it for 2–3 minutes to release their color and aroma.
  2. In a small saucepan, add the remaining milk (or almond milk) and bring to a gentle simmer over low heat.
  3. Stir in the bloomed saffron milk, cardamom powder, and sugar or honey. Whisk lightly for 1–2 minutes until the flavors infuse and the milk turns a soft golden hue.
  4. Add more sweetener or a pinch of cardamom if desired. Avoid boiling to preserve the delicate aroma.
  5. Pour the hot saffron milk into a pre-warmed mug to maintain its temperature.
  6. Garnish beautifully (optional): Top with a few chopped almonds, pistachio slivers, or an extra saffron strand for a luxurious finish.
  7. Enjoy steaming hot — rich, nutty, and delicately spiced with every sip.
  8. Optional tip: Add a drop of rose water or kewra essence for an extra layer of fragrance.
